Here I am, a grandmother, reading NONVIOLENT COMMUNICATION a Language of Life by Marshall B. Rosenberg, PhD. Why hadn’t this been a class in good manners when I was a youth?
Reflections back on life, point out problems as a result of lack of communication or improper communication. Didn’t you read enough suspense novels – especially romance novels- in which most of the plot hung on relationship twists from lack or communication or improper communication? Didn’t you cry out , stop that nonsense and express yourself!
Well, I am less than 1/2 way thru the book and it has hit home. My husband of 43 years passed 2 years ago. What are my regrets? That I did not properly communicate and didn’t even realize it’s importance!
I don’t have any shortcuts to advise how to communicate but to stress its importance. Mr. Rosenberg hits on all the communication hurdles and how to approach to clear those hurdles. Give this book a try so as not to have regrets about what was spoken, or how it was spoken, or what was unspoken.
