Pursuit of Joy….. It seems evasive. The dictionary defines it as ” the emotion evoked by wellbeing, success, or good fortune: or by the prospect of possessing what one desires: DELIGHT: or the expression or exhibition of such emotion: GAIETY: or A state of happiness – BLISS. or A source of cause of delight.
So much for DELIGHT, GAIETY, and/or BLISS. Without drugs…. I have one fond photograph of me at about age 2 (?). Am sure when my parents pointed the camera at me (in those days of film photography), they did not expect to catch the delight I was experiencing as the Christmas tree fell over – due to me. That photo never stops giving me DELIGHT.
Actually, watching children having a good time with simple pleasures gives me a state of GAIETY. It is like contagious. Is it not in the doing, but in the observation / appreciation of a simple JOYFUL moment?
Maybe that is the corner JOY hides in – unanticipated moments of observing JOY. Is Joy more in the observation than in the deliberate creation?
Now my desire is to be in a permanent state of JOY or have the ability to do whatever that would cause me JOY. Like have the light switch for JOY.
When the sky is blue and has fluffy / white clouds, I like riding or driving in the car. I often wish I were on a road trip on those types of days. In the zone of appreciative being. And I do like to drive.
What is your JOY? How can we bring more JOY into our lives? Feel free to e-mail me at terri@divinitywithinyou.com. Really would appreciate any feedback – maybe you have a topic you would like discussed. Doesn’t mean I would have the expertise to address, but we could start a discussion. I am disappointed with this platform, WordPress, that does not allow comments unless you already have a WordPress account.
Light & Love,
Terri
